Thibaut Claes

Before joining Smartfin, Thibaut established and led FNX Ventures, a venture capital fund dedicated to defence, security and dual-use technologies. Prior to that, he served as Investment Manager at Wallonie Entreprendre, one of Belgium’s leading investment groups, where he focused on venture investments in high-growth technology companies and actively supported portfolio companies through investment execution, follow-on financings and board participation.

Earlier in his career, Thibaut worked with Serena Capital and several organizations within the Belgian startup ecosystem, advising entrepreneurs on fundraising, business strategy and company development. Over more than thirteen years, he has built extensive experience investing in and supporting technology companies across software, industrial technologies, deeptech and dual-use sectors.

He currently serves as Board Member or Observer at several European technology companies. Thibaut holds a Master’s degree in Finance and a Master’s degree in Management.
